FAQ's

Do you meet face to face with your clients before the event?

Yes, definitely. In fact, it’s actually a requirement of mine. A wedding reception is so much more than just showing up and playing music. This evening is about you and your family. I want to get to know you, know what your likes and dislikes are, and get a feel for how you envision your perfect event to take place.  With this information, I can come up with a complete game plan, customized for your event. We will talk about things from the formal introductions to the last dance. We can also meet more than once, if that makes you feel more comfortable knowing all of the details are taken care of. I want to be part of your special day- not just the guy playing music in the corner. This meeting is extremely important!

What is your attire for performing at events?

Tuxedo. (Unless requested otherwise.)

What time do you arrive to set up? I arrive about an hour and a half before the event is due to start. It takes me about 25 minutes to set-up my equipment. (So if your guests do arrive early I am ready to go!)

Do you play music CD’s or utilize a computerized music system?
I use both. I run a laptop through my sound system which currently houses a library of over 26,000 songs, right at my fingertips. (I can find a requested song in about 4 seconds!) I also have a CD player in case someone has a CD they would like to hear.  Finally, in case of an emergency, I have a complete back-up system.

Do you take requests?
Yes, but I will try and stick to the kind of music that has been requested by my clients beforehand. I will not play any music that has offensive lyrics. Any song I play will be a “radio” edit. This is very important at a wedding reception.

How do you cater to the “older” guests?
My goal is for EVERYONE to have a great time. There is no point in playing one style of music all night long. I will mix it up and play something for all of your guests to enjoy. Another really nice thing to do if you do have older family members attending  is to find a special song (maybe a first dance from their wedding day) to play and dedicate to them.

Will the bride and groom need to come up with the play list?
No, that’s why you are paying me to be the DJ. I certainly want ideas and “special song” recommendations, but you do not need to plan every song for the reception. I hope that you will be comfortable leaving all of those details to me A typical wedding reception/party has about 65-75 songs played. I would like to get about 20 favorite or “must play” songs from the bride and groom before hand.

Are you insured?
Yes, I have $1,000,000 in liability insurance. I thankfully have never had to use it. More and more reception/party locations are requiring that the DJ or Band have this. But, not many bands or DJ’s actually have it. I’m not taking the chance. ( Download PDF File )

What makes me different from all the other DJ’s out there?
My accent, of course, I’m from England! Actually, it’s much more than that. I think one of the main things that sets me apart is the fact that I have a broad knowledge of special events and how they work. Weddings are, without a doubt, my specialty. I have performed at so many over the years and have learned so much about involving all the guests in the evening. You must play a good mix of music for everyone. You need to be professional and work along side the other wedding or party vendors that are at the event. You need to keep up with what is current in the music industry. (I’m adding a least 25 new songs every week to my collection!) I do not tell jokes or stand on the table and make fun or offend anyone. I’m a complete professional and yet I know how to get and keep a party going. I truly love this business and being part of such a special day is very rewarding. Nothing makes me smile more than when I receive a thank you letter following a wedding I performed at, telling me how I made the day perfect.
